Crossing Oceans

I’m going to be honest.  For the longest time I could not sing the lyrics to Oceans.  Every Christian girls favorite song.  I could not physically speak the words

“Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders,

Let me walk upon the waters,

Wherever you would call me.

Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander

and my faith will be made stronger,

In the presence of my Savior.”

WHOA!  Those are legit words.  I couldn’t say them out loud for fear of Him really leading us somewhere away from Winter Garden.  I mean who in their right mind signs up for “send me anywhere?”  When we first started talking about missions this song was top of the charts.  And it made me feel sick to my stomach. It hit a real nerve.  I knew He was calling us somewhere, I was just hoping it was still in our hometown. Ha!

So here we are 1.5 years later, approved Missionaries through Beautiful Feet International.  Making preparations to move our family to Costa Rica to help run 7 pregnancy centers and counting.  And now, I pray these words.  I would have never wandered to Costa Rica or anywhere farther than 20 miles from my family.  He has in turn made our faith stronger.  He is leading us beyond the comfortable borders of what we call home. And now, we are crossing the waters to the place He has specifically called our family.

“Oh, Jesus, you’re my God!

I will call upon Your name

Keep my eyes above the waves

When oceans rise

My soul will rest in Your embrace

I am Yours and You are mine”
